Weekly Running Recap // Double Digits


I feel like a long hello was due after my last week of blogging. If I have to be honest, which I do, then I will tell you all that I have been in a major funk. I’m not always a big social media person and, quite often, I take non-planned “breaks” from paying much attention to anything online at all. Let’s face it, life can be extremely overwhelming and sometimes I don’t need to add the rest of the world to it.

Yet, I started a blog!!

There are a lot of reasons why I started this blog: personal growth, documenting, meeting people, accountability (running), motivation, an outlet, hobby, etc. etc. etc. But it is really easy to get lazy, discouraged, and uninspired. Or maybe that is just my “funk” speaking.

Anyway, I am trying to get my act together. I have some ideas brewing and meanwhile, I’m going to tell you all about my running last week because, hallelujah!!!!, it actually happened!!!

1) Monday – 4 miles – I barely remember this run. It was probably great! Haha 🙂 Is this normal?? Why can’t I remember this happening?? I do, but so vaguely. This is why I should always take pictures.

2) Wednesday – 2.3 miles – I decided to run with Liev in the stroller while Sasha was at preschool. It’s been a long time since I had ran with the stroller and I am so not used to it. It’s tough stuff. I’d like it to get easier so I’ll keep at it once a week hopefully.

3) Saturday – 11.something miles – WHAT! Yep, you read that right. Double digits. AND, I kind of jumped the gun and just did it, even though if I was smart, I would have gradually gotten there.

Let’s talk about this run… All down hill (part of what I’ll be running for my half), and beautiful scenery/smells everywhere. It all felt so absolutely wonderful, until just before mile 10 or 9… I’m not sure… but we came to the first big intersection finally and it was a red light. As I went to stop, I could feel my legs tightening, and then lock up. I kept moving in place and stretching as much as possible but it was all pointless.

When we (I was with my brother and sister-in-law) started running again, my right knee wouldn’t have it. I ended up walking the last 2 miles basically because every time I tried to run, my knee would scream at me to stop. So I did. Two days later and all is well. I’m feeling fine (so far, haven’t attempted running) and super excited to have a double digit run in the books. Yay!!

On a scale of 1-10, how crazy is it that I jumped from 6.2 miles to 10? Have your legs ever quit working on you??
