Well, I did it. I announced to my Instagram world that I started this little blog. Afterwards, I felt like running into a cave for awhile, but I talked myself out of that real fast. As a little girl, I was pretty shy, and every now and again the shyness will play peek-a-boo with me. However, I am far from that now. Unless I have to sing a solo on stage. I would rather eat a worm (gross).
I started reading Yes Please by Amy Poehler and I couldn’t have picked a better time. The last page of the preface was blowing my mind. The whole preface is pretty much her just letting us know how difficult (understatement) it was to write this book, but then she asks, “How do we drag ourselves through the muck when our brain is telling us youaredumbandyouwillneverfinishandnoonecaresanditistimeyoustop?” And, “what else are we going to do?….Quiet our voice because we are worried it is not perfect?”
Then, the words I probably should hang on my bathroom mirror: “I believe great people do things before they are ready….I have realized that mystery is what keeps people away, and I’ve grown tired of smoke and mirrors. I yearn for the clean, well-lighted place. So let’s peek behind the curtain and hail the others like us. The open-faced sandwiches who take risks and live big and smile with all of their teeth. These are the people I want to be around. This is the honest way I want to live and love and write.”
I think I’ve found a new best friend.
I would definitely consider myself a risk taker (as long as I’m true to my personal beliefs), but for some reason, taking the “risk” of starting this blog took me awhile to agree to. I also want to color my hair pink for a couple weeks (thanks, Alyona) but it might take awhile to take that “risk” as well. Honestly, I don’t think risks are really risks. Just adventures, or lessons waiting to be learned. Experience. To me, that is a lot of what life is about. So I am going to blog and the shy little girl in me playing peek-a-boo cannot stop me. IcandoitIcandoitIcandoitIcandoitIcandoitIcandoit. Okay, enough about that.
Originally, I thought I was going to title this “peace of mind” and tell you about the awesome home security guy we met yesterday, but oh well. As of today though, our home will be secure and I will have some peace of mind.
